What's a Nosh?

BIG NOSH Menu Descriptions:

Nosh:  To snack, to eat,.  When hungry….. nosh!

Brisket:  Tender meat from the finest of beef simmered in onion and tomatoes, sublimely rich in flavors like your Bubbe (grandmother) used to make.

Corned Beef Sandwich:  A New York Deli classic recipe sliced to perfection.   Best eaten between two slices of rye bread and slathered with brown mustard, never with Mayo!

Pastrami Sandwich:  Only the lean will do.  A smoked brined brisket but nothing like corned beef and peppered to perfection!

Kasha and Bow Ties:  Aahhh directly from the old country fluffy buckwheat kernels clinging to pasta bows.  Comfort food on any day.

Knish:  Pillows of fluffy potatoes cloaked in flakey pastry – a real mouth full!

Falafel Sandwich:  Israeli street food.  Chick peas mashed to a finest texture rarely experienced in South Carolina.  Fried to perfection served with salad, tahini (sesame) sauce nestled in a portable pita pocket.

Hummus:  An indescribably delicious creamy spread of chick peas, sesame seeds, garlic and lemon. Schmeared (spread) in a portable pita pocket.

Israeli Salad: The ubiquitous Middle Eastern salad available all over Israel, in Damascus or Cairo too.  A veggie combo of chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and parsley, dressed in olive oil and vinegar.

Latkes:  Ed’s famous potatoes pancakes - you can’t eat just one.  Eat them at Hanukah or anytime.  Golden fried potatoes, onions and special spices. They are greasy and great!

Stuffed Cabbage: Chopped beef lovingly rolled in cabbage and cooked bubbling hot in a sweet and sour tomato sauce.  HMMM HMMM HMMM

Tzimmes:  Don’t let this healthy combination of veggies fool you, this stuff is sweet and tastes great.  Eating tzimmes is a yummy way to eat your veggies.

Kugel:  Noodle casserole just doesn’t capture the essence of this deliciously sweet accompaniment.  Eat it alone or as a side dish with brisket or corned beef.

Chopped Liver:  Jewish pate.  A creamy chicken liver, onion spread.  Try it, you’ll like it!  Best schmeared (spread) on a cracker or rye bread.

Chicken Soup and Matzah Balls:  Jewish penicillin that cures all.  At the heart of this soup is a fluffy ball, a soft dumpling floating among friends, chicken and veggies.

Cabbage Soup:  Rabbi Marcus’ famous recipe made with beef, cabbage, tomatoes and love.

Egg Cream:  No egg here just seltzer and chocolate milk!  A refreshing bubbly beverage from up North.  It is as popular in New York as Sweet Tea is in South Carolina.

Rugelah:  Ruth’s famous melt in your mouth pastry sweetened with raisins and nuts.  Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea that is if you don’t eat it all in the car on the way home.
